Birth Ball Basics™️, now known as Prep 4 Birth™️, is a 3-hour evidenced based class suitable for any stage of pregnancy. We recommend taking this class as early as possible during your pregnancy to allow you more time to practice the exercises, enhance your physical strength, and start preparing you mentally and emotionally for labor and delivery.

What should I bring to the class?

  1. Fully inflated exercise/birth ball 

  2. An exercise mat

  3. Water for you to drink

  5. Comfortable clothing (such as exercise attire)

How many weeks pregnant should I be before taking Birth Ball Basics™️ / Prep 4 Birth™?

All trimesters of pregnancy are welcome. The earlier you start in your pregnancy, the more time you will have to practice the techniques throughout your pregnancy. Regardless of how far along you are in your pregnancy, it's never too late to take Prep 4 Birth™ class to feel empowered and informed about the process of giving birth.

For what type of birth setting is this class suitable?

No matter if you opt for a home birth, a birth center, or a hospital birth, this class is appropriate for you. It caters to those planning an unmedicated birth, an epidural birth, or any other form of medicated birth. If you are expecting, this class is designed for you.

Do I need fitness experience to take this class?

You do not need to have any level of fitness experience to attend this class. It is open to all levels of fitness, whether a beginner or an athlete. This class is designed as an educational clinic. We will do some exercises that are suitable for all levels. We will learn how to use the birth ball and the peanut ball in labor for positioning and for comfort. We will also discuss using the birth ball in postpartum.

What size exercise/ birth ball should I get?

Choose your ball size based on your height. If your height is 5'0" to 5'5", choose a ball that is size Small: 55cm/22".

If your height is 5'6" to 5'11", choose a ball that is size Medium: 65cm/26"

If your height is 6'0" to 6'3", choose a ball that is size Large: 75cm/30"

*Quick tip: When seated on the ball, your hips should be at the level of your knees or higher.

How should I inflate the ball?

You will want to inflate your ball over 2-3 days so that it fully expands. The first day, you will inflate it up to about 80% of the final size. The next day, inflate fully to its advertised size. Please note that when seated on the ball, your hips should be at the level of your knees or higher. If that is not the case, you might want to go the next size up or order from a different brand.
